Orchid House, located on the east side of the "Big Island" of Hawaii, in the Puna district, has no close neighbors
and overlooks beautiful and historic sacred forestland. It is the only house at the end of a dead-end street in
a quiet subdivision, Kalapana Seaview Estates, that contains about 70 dwellings, which range from cozy beach houses
to more rustic dwellings. It's a five-minute walk to the sea cliffs at Oceanfront Park, and one mile to clothing-optional
Kahena Black Sand Beach where you often may swim with dolphins. A nearby trail crosses over and then follows the
ancient island-circling "King's Trail", leading to "Secret Sands," a small hidden cliff-beach only a few
minutes walk from Orchid House. This is Old Hawaii at its best.
World famous Kalani Oceanside Resort is just across the sacred lava forest, about a half-mile south on the Red Road. They
serve healthy gourmet meals every day, and you may sign up and pay to participate in various classes and activities, including
body work, watsu, tai chi, swimming in their pool, and much more.
